Atlas and The Long Walk Home Prints
Artist Statement
I'd like to make a very short "artist statement" about the pieces below. To be clear, I was just a medium who was given the privilege of getting to collaborate with a great man and a great friend in creating this work. He provided the lived experience and opened his mind and heart to allow me to make my best attempt in grasping what it's like to serve in silence with dignity, strength and grace. I am deeply humbled to get to be a part of this process but all the attention should be placed on the ones who served and sacrificed so much to inspire this work. Sincerely, Mark Jesinoski.

"Atlas" was the result of a collaboration with Army Col. "Prozac 6," who requested I contemplate the experience of the combat veteran through the mythology of Atlas. He provided two journals from his time deployed in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. Text from these journals makes up the background of the painting.
